1. I agree with your stance on the consensus view. It is a suitable way to examine crime and reflect public opinion. The consensus view holds that laws apply to all citizens equally, which is very important in any society to exercise fairness among all people in a country. This builds public trust and confidence in a country's legal governing body or system put in place to ensure that public rights and liberty are not violated. It should not be a case where a majority is being treated fairly and if they commit a crime they are not penalized for their actions, and if another majority commits the same crime they are being punished to the full extent of criminal law.So, with the consensus view the idea of laws applying to all citizens equally is the way to move forward in today's society, which is morally right and I believe it is in the Christian view as operating ethically and righteously.

2. Very through. Do you believe people are born evil? It can be believed that people deviate when they are missing an aspect in growth which can lead them to essentially making bad choices.

3. Thank you for posting this was very informative and actually helped me gain a perspective on the topic outside of the book. You said something in your post that caught my attention. Do you personally believe that the laws of today are a reflection of our common values or just a reflection of those in power that think they know what is best for us? for example i have always had an argument with friends and family about the war on drugs. I agree there are a lot of communities and families that have been destroyed because of them but I think it is ridiculous to have people behind bars and have their rights taken away and life altered never to be the same again simply because they were in possession of something they wanted to use for THEMSELVES and not to harm anyone else. Drugs have done the same harm to the community as alcohol marijuana and tobacco all things that are completely legal and statistically just as harmful and addictive so what is the difference? but that was just an example, So do you believe that our laws are a reflection of our (The peoples) common values, or those put in place to govern us?

4. The Mosaic Code is a covenant that God made with the Israelites. This covenant was an agreement for the Israelites to obey the laws that God provided within the Ten Commandments and the laws of the Old Testament. Abiding by these laws would allow the Israelites to be cared for and protected by God (Siegel, 2018). Once this covenant was formed, the Israelites developed moral standing, which provided the foundation for the U.S. legal system. Violent crimes such as murder, assault, and theft remain prohibited in the United States, even though thousands of years have passed since the Mosaic Code was formed (Siegel, 2018). In my opinion, the biggest way the Mosaic Code influenced the foundation of the U.S. legal system was by giving every individual the right to a fair trial and sentencing for their crime. In both the Mosaic Code and the U.S. legal system, individuals are held accountable for their crimes or disobedience to the law and punished accordingly.

5. Custom holds that God made a pact or contract with the tribes of Israel, requiring them to follow his commandmentsas it was delivered to them by Moses in exchange for God's special devotion and defense (Siegel, 2017). The Ten Commandments, along with the laws in the Old Testament, serve as the cornerstones of morality and ethics, as well as ethical and judicial laws, are all included in the Mosaic Code that was provided by Moses. These laws offer society a framework for settling disputes, administering justice, and handling a variety of issues related to law. The Mosaic Code has undeniably played a crucial role in shaping both Judeo-Christian moral teachings and the United States legal system that exists today. The forbidden actions against murder, theft, and perjury predate their incorporation into the current legal system of the United States by many millennia (Siegel, 2017). These moral guidelines have mostly come from The Mosaic Code, which has endured the test of time and continues to offer important direction for understanding and managing life's difficulties.

6. The Mosaic Code of the Israelites is a law given by God to the Israelites through Moses. It is found in the Old Testament of the Bible and begins with the Ten Commandments.Jesus looked at the Mosaic Law and its implications for positive law. It gave insight into the U.S. law system and influences the foundation of its legal system as America's civil and criminal justice systems are grounded on this law.It incorporates humanism and the democratic spirit into a written judicial code. It sets the foundation of a legal system based on the dignity of man and individual equality before the law.It also considers the concept of "Innocent until proven guilty" for individuals accused of crimes.Within the Mosaic Code, there is an authority (Priesthood) charged with the responsibility of keeping the government within the framework of Mosaic law, and for the United States, there is an authority (Supreme Court) charged with the responsibility of keeping the government within the framework of the Constitution. In the Mosaic law, Jews could do anything not specifically denied to them, and in the U.S., the individual states can do anything not specifically denied to them. The U.S. federal government has only the powers granted to it by the Constitution (Cochran, 2020).
