Louise has been having an extra marital affair with Richard, who also has a long term girlfriend called Shimi. When Richard announces his engagement to Shimi and tries to end the relationship with Louise she becomes determined not to allow this to happen. Louise finds a fake baby scan on the internet and takes it to Richard claiming that she is pregnant and that he will have to take responsibility for this. Richard tells her that he wants nothing more to do with her or any child. Louise then begins to email Richard with the scan, along with messages saying that she is going to commit suicide if he does not stand by her. She then forwards these messages to Shimi and to Richard's parents. She films a fake attempt at cutting her wrists and then emails this to them all as well.Richard's mother is overwhelmed by the allegations and the video she receives and suffers a lapse into a serious depressive state. She has struggled with depression for many years. Shimi is outraged about the whole situation. She follows Richard when he goes to confront Louise about the allegations. When Shimi sees them together she marches over to them and begins yelling at them both. She loses her self-control and throws her engagement ring in a fit of temper. The ring narrowly misses Richard's head but it hits Louise in the eye. Shimi then collapses in pain. It transpires that she was pregnant, but the stress of the situation created by Louise causes her to suffer a miscarriage.Louise suffers a serious injury to her eye and loses the sight in it.
