Lucinda is the sole proprietor of a small, sports shoe shop in the local mall. The entire staff consists of Lucinda and two other full-time employees; between the three of them, they split the hours of coverage in the store during its business hours, which are Monday - Saturday, 10-6, closed on Sunday.

Recently, other retail businesses in the mall where the shop is located have decided to open on Sundays from Noon to 6 P.M.Because of increased costs like rent and utilities, Lucinda decides she also would benefit from having the extra hours of being opened in which to make additional sales.Lucinda announces the plan to the other employees and notifies them that when the new hours begin the following month everyone's schedule, including hers, will change to provide for coverage on Sunday, with everyone taking turns and covering split shifts so that nobody has to give up their entire Sunday every week.

The two employees refuse to work on Sunday saying it is against their religious beliefs to work on the Sabbath.Lucinda terminates their employment. They apply for unemployment compensation, contending their unemployed status is not their fault. If the state grants them benefits Lucinda will be penalized since your unemployment compensation taxes will go up.

I need help understanding the followingtwo-part question.

1. Should Lucinda contest their claim?

2. What would be the result if the employees refuse to work on Sunday because of their desire to play golf on that day?
