Mac is a a successful psychopath. He has a successful drug trafficking operation with many of his boys selling and delivering the drugs which is why Mac could never be caught with any illegal substance. Mac only arranges the purchases and distribution. Everyone who works under him never cross him due to his known rages. He doesn't use a gun but a knife that he keeps on him at all times. He would just carve you up with that knife. He has never been caught or arrested.

Out of all the boys, Gerald was Mac's. At 36 he has been in jail more than one can count. He is brutal but not a killer. Gerald has a reputation that makes people fear him. He was intimidating by the say he dressed and held himself that he barely hits anyone. The only person who scares Gerald is Mac. Mac wanted things done and Gerald always does them.

Gerald's main job is collecting money. The forceful kind of collecting. One day four years ago, Gerald told Mac that Old Donald owes them a credit total of $6,000. He is sick and uses a walker. Mac was furious and ordered Gerald to get it even if it turns bloody.

Gerald knows he would be the next person to be carved by Mac if he doesn't complete this job. Gerald said he feared for his own life.

Unarmed, Gerald went to Donald asking for the money. Donald opened the door and said he has none. Gerald pushed in and looked for things to take as a compensation. He saw jewelry, a small sound system and an iPad on the dining table. Donald yelled that they were his property. Gerald turned in time to see Donald come at him with a kitchen knife but he missed and fell over his walker. Gerald pulled at the knife under Donald and the two of them fell to the floor. It was later said that Donald's cut was impossible to tell if Gerald stabbed Donald or if Donald stabbed himself when he fell on the knife. The wound was not fatal.

When Gerald was trying to remove himself from the fallen , he heard a scream and Mac lunging at Donald on the floor. Mac pulled out his knife and stabbed Donald repeatedly. Gerald, distorted, doesn't remember what happened, but a witness who heard the noise and decided to check what's going on, said he saw Gerald attempting to pull Mac off Donald telling Mac enough. Gerald suffered three superficial cuts, but it wasn't certain which knife cut him. They both ran away and leaving the dying Donald.

Arrested almost immediately, they were both charged with First Degree Murder, threatening, break and enter and theft. What do you think they should be found guilty of and what defences could they raise even if the chances of success is low. Refer to self-defence, duress, and provocation, even if it is to dismiss them as good defences.
