make a "Growth Chart."Here's the background:

When you were a kid, did your family have a place on the wall where they marked your height as you grew taller throughout the years? Or did they keep a baby book that logged the different stages in your growth? Guess what? Even though you're older now, you're still growing and developing. And it is still important to keep a record.

But just as learning to walk involved a lot of falling down, growing as an adult inevitably involves mistakes. In fact, falling down is one of the main ways we learn and grow -- provided we are willing to look at what happened and then change what we do in the future.

This isn't always easy -- all the emphasis on accomplishment and success may lead us to think we always have to be successful, even perfect. But failure and disappointment can be powerful sources of essential information.

make a different kind of growth chart. Think of it as an alternative resume: Instead of listing your successes and accomplishments, you will focus on three occasions in the past when things didn't go as you planned or you made a mistake. Pick real doozies!

For each of the three occasions, write out answers to these questions:

1. What happened? What was your role in the outcome?

2. Did you accept responsibility for your actions? If not, what prevented you? What did or could you do to accept responsibility in the future?

3. Did you get defensive or equate making mistakes with being a mistake? If so, how did this attitude affect your ability to own what happened and learn from it?

4. Analyze in depth what happened. What were the factors that contributed to the outcome?

5. What information could have avoided the mistake?

6. What alternatives could you have considered but did not?

7. What kinds of changes did you make or could you have made to avoid this outcome in the future? What kinds of change would you like to make but find difficult?

8. Now's your chance for a do-over. Describe the same occasion from a growth perspective. What can you learn from it? What you would do differently in the future?

they will be assessed based on the following criteria:
