MANAGERIAL SKILLS In the past I have had the odd manager who was not fit for their job, I am fairly lucky to have had great experiences with managers. Today I am going to discuss the best manager I have ever worked with, she would be very organized. Highly skilled in organization for technical details, human relations, and conceptual skills appropriate for her role. She was a director for one of the sites I worked at, she and I would work together on a lot of thigs but she took initiate and technical issues into her own hands, as her job description stated. She was able to balance any issue that arise whether it be within the child care between children, family concern, staff concern or issue, she always acted and spoke appropriately. She had a smile on her face even if staff or parents were stressed, remained calm in situations, rarely did I ever see emotions of anger, she would express in very calm manner her concerns and explained to children the risks they took has consequences for them and the staff. For example, a child was refusing to get down from the wooden ramp that led into the portable outdoors, she explained the risks the child has and would always bring a staff to witness her explainin the concerns so if anything did happen that child was warned, she did everything she could to get the child down. Some other staff I have seen would go blue in the face trying to get a child down from a place they shouldn't. This manager believed in natural consequences
