Managers work with teams to execute tasks and fulfill their responsibilities. Working with machines, computers, or trained animals is usually fairly easy and predictable. When it comes to human beings, it's a different story. It's often difficult to get individuals to work together efficiently and effectively. An under-performing machine can be calibrated, and a stubborn animal can be induced to do our bidding by offering it a carrot, but motivating individuals to deliver their best is not as simple. A major question asked in the study of management is, "What motivates people to accomplish tasks effectively and efficiently in an organization?" We'll examine this question in the early part of this week. Organizations have the responsibility of ensuring that the workforce meets these requirements lies with the human resource (HR) management. In this week, we'll examine the responsibilities of HR managers. As we've seen in our study of management, HR is a field that is constantly changing due to several external and internal factors and the HR manager position is crucial to the success of all functions within an organization. Analyze the evolution of management theory as a framework for future management practice. Distinguish the primary functions and responsibilities of management including practices used to perform them such as aspects of organizing, methods of control, and of workforce motivation.
