Many fast-food restaurants reside in the two blocks around the community medical facility. Those restaurants include McDonald's, KFC, Slim's Chicken, Peking Chinese Buffet, El Azul Grande -Tex/Mex cuisine, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell. There is also a gas station/convenience-type store that sells prepared food. All these restaurants are BMI-unhealthy choices as they are fast food chain stores with copious amounts of sugar, sodium, and fatty foods (Bader et al., 2018). These restaurants are close to the area's hospital, the largest employer, an elementary school, and a high school. These restaurants are within walking distance of the University as well. There are no options for fresh foods, natural foods, or supermarkets in this congested area. This area is also closer to residential areas of lower to middle-class neighborhoods. The only Farmer's Market in the area is directly off one of the most affluent neighborhoods in the community. The Farmer's Market is where fresh produce and farm meats can be purchased. Changes made during COVID-19 started the allowance of Food Stamps and State Food Assistance to pay for purchases at the Farmer's Market
