Many people are usually attracted to the trappings and show of power. This attraction often influences some to aspire to leadership positions. But to be a leader requires that one must be in possession of certain critical skills. It is therefore very important that any aspiring leader must understand why they want to be in leadership and whether they have what it takes to be a successful leader. After completing the proper assessment tools, some people may be better in management than in leadership. In fact, with honesty, some people may find out that they lack what it takes to either manage or lead.

Drawing on all the readings contained in Module 1, identify the major requirements for leadership. Which, in your view, are most important? Your response should address the following questions:

1. Why are those leadership requirements you identified above important?
2. Based on your readings in this module, do you think the leadership model determines leadership culture? Why or why not?
3. Management and leadership may be different but they sure are similar in some respects. Do you agree?
