Marketing a "Taste of Place" of a Global Culinary TourismDestination

Please answer briefly.

Please make a poster as well.

Thank you so much.

Objective:

Toresearchandexamine an international"culinaryproduct" at a destinationandcreatesocial media post (a story) and accompanying visual 'poster' page toentice Canadian CulinaryTourists to visit.

Method:

Imagine you work for a country's NationalTourism Development Office. You havebeenassigned toresearchandhighlightanagriculturalPRODUCT(a foreign to Canada, locally sourced authentic food ingredient or product or local beverage)in thatcountrythat wouldbe ofimportanceandinterest(i.e.amotivator) toaCanadian traveller.

Basedon your researchedfindings, you willcreate social media post that tells a "story" about the product; you will also create "poster" to accompany this marketing story thatshowcases how the traveller can "experience" thisculinary product at thedestination country.

The poster andonepagestory should be created as if it were going to be used by the country's National Tourism Development website's blog (or social media post) to attract future Canadian culinary tourists to visit the country to experience this food or drink.

The idea is not just to tell us about the product, but also where it comes from, how it fits into the country's culture/history and who the people are who make/grow/produce/cook it! Stay focused on the topic (and don't talk about the gorgeous weather or the beaches or the man-made attractions or... remember! you're capturing the attention of Foodies!)

One-page STORY:

(with accompanying page listing the sources of information for the story):

  • Provide a story in one page (five hundred words) that explains how this product is attractive to Canadian culinary tourists
  • Talk about the people and stories behind the product in order to humanize the experience; storytelling should build a narrative about the food or drink at the destination, looking for new angles that reflect the unique selling features of the food or drink at the destination (for inspiration you could read:https://www.menumag.ca/2017/02/15/1739/)

NOTE: remember NOT to focus on the country's weather, accommodations, events, attractions, the prices, etc. Focus on the actual CULINARY product!

  • Highlights oftheculinaryproduct at the destinationcan include:
    • Whatit is? (don't assume everyone knows; explain what it is so that it make people curious to find out more)
    • Whereis it from exactly?(hint! have avisualaid:aMAP of the country that shows the country location in the world and then the location in the country where the product is actually from)
    • Other pertinentdetails?(eg. how to eat it, other uses, seasonality, etc.)
  • Most Importantly: explainwhyis this a "must-experience" for Canadian Foodtourists:
  • Whatfeatures about it makes itdistinctive, authenticand/orunique?
  • Whywould aCanadianculinarytraveller want to travel all the way to try this food or drink atthe destination?

You MUST provide a complete & comprehensive list of resources that you used to create the story and the pictures that you used for the poster.

One Page POSTER:

  • Tell the story through the pictures too! Colour pictures will helpto supportyour story; provide a brief explanation of each picture.
  • Minimal writing in the poster(remember:this part is a visual Marketingpiece!)
