Mass customization goes beyond build-to-order manufacturing. It allows products or service to be tailored to the individual tastes of customers, but on a high-volume scale. A great example of this is customized t-shirts. Customers can create their own shirt, including picking the shirt style and color, as well as any graphics on the front or back. Then customers can order as many or as little as they want.
