Matter 3: Promotion to senior project manager and other income streams Ntshuxeko has been employed by the TheoM Costruction Group ("TheoM") for the past 4 years and has been promoted to senior project manager with effect from 1 June 2022. This new position will require her to travel more as she will now manage all the company's projects across the Gauteng and North West Province. In order to cover her transport costs, she has been afforded an opportunity to choose between two travel options. She can either choose to receive a monthly travel allowance or to exclusively use a vehicle owned by the company. If she chooses the travel allowance option, she will receive a travel allowance of R11 000 per month. She owns a BMW X5, that she received as a push present (a gift typically given to a woman by her partner or spouse after she has given birth to the couple's child) in December 2020, which had a retail market value of R1 300000 on acquisition (and included a maintenance plan). If she chooses the right of use of motor vehicle option, she will obtain the exclusive right to use a Ford Ranger XLT. The company purchased the Ford Ranger XLT on 1 March 2021 when it had a retail market value of R690 000 (and included a maintenance plan). Regardless of the option she chooses, she will keep accurate records of the kilometres travelled and expects to travel a total of 32400km from 1 June 2022 until 28 February 2023 (private travel will consist of 15% of the total). She will pay for all the fuel costs and will keep records of these costs. Assume that these will amount to R46 000 for the 2023 year of assessment. Apart from her salary and other employment benefits, Ntshuxeko received the following income for the 2023 year of assessment: - Interest from Recover Bank - R21 000 - Rental income from a bachelor apartment which she bought and let out since October 2022 R27 000 - Monthly "wife allowance" from Nelson - R30 000 \begin{tabular}{|l|c|c|c|} \hline \multicolumn{4}{|c|}{ Fixing of rate per kilometre in respect of motor vehicles per regulation } \\ Effective from 1 March 2022 \\ \hline \multicolumn{1}{|c|}{ Where the value of vehicle } & FixedCost(R) & Fuelcost(c/km) & Maintenancecost(c/km) \\ \hline Does not exceed R95 000 & 29836 & 131.7 & 40.9 \\ \hline exceeds R95 000 but does not exceed R190 000 & 52889 & 147.0 & 51.1 \\ \hline Exceeds R190 000 but does not exceed R285 000 & 76033 & 159.7 & 56.3 \\ \hline exceeds R285 000 but does not exceed R380 000 & 96197 & 171.8 & 61.5 \\ \hline exceeds R380 000 but does not exceed R475 000 & 116438 & 183.8 & 72.3 \\ \hline exceeds R475 000 but does not exceed R570 000 & 137735 & 210.8 & 84.9 \\ \hline exceeds R570 000 but does not exceed R665 000 & 159031 & 218.0 & 105.5 \\ \hline exceeds R665 000 & 159031 & 218.0 & 105.5 \\ \hline \end{tabular} (c) Critically evaluate the two travel options and advise Ntshuxeko on which option will be the most beneficial for her from an income tax perspective (Matter 3 )
