Mediation is a form of ADR where a neutral third$-$party $($often an attorney or former judge$)$ assists the disputing parties in reaching an optimal or agreed upon resolution or settlement. A mediator does not make a judicial type of decision or award. However, the Parties may agree that his ruling and decision will be binding and final.
