Megan and George are friends. They also work for the same company and live next door to each other. Megan got married last year. She and her husband are planning to move to Melbourne next year. On Friday 15 September, George went to Megans house for dinner, and she asked George whether hes interested in buying her Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) for $1500. Megan showed George the PS5 and he checked it. The PS5 was in a tip-top condition. George was very much interested but he needed to ask his wife for permission. Megan said he could have until Wednesday, 20 September to think about it. On Saturday16 September, Megan wrote a letter to her best friend, Laure, and told her she is moving to Melbourne next year. She asked Laura whether she is interested in buying "the stuff at her flat. The letter listed all 38 items to be sold (including a photo of each item, the condition of each item and the price for each item) for a total price of $50,000. The letter also included the PS5 that she was planning to sell to George. Laura received Megans letter on Monday, 18 September. On Tuesday 19 September, Laura wrote a letter back to Megan to tell her she is willing to buy all the items for $50,000. The letter was posted on the same day and Megan received the letter on 20 September at 4:00 p.m. Since Megan was busy packing, she forgot about the letter. George called Megan on 20 September at 10:00 a.m. and told Megan his wife gave him permission to buy the PlayStation and he could pay her $1500 the next day (Thursday 21 September). The next day, Megan woke up and read Lauras letter, she realized she made a mistake and accidentally included the PlayStation in the list of items to be sold to Laura. She immediately called Laura and told her about the mistake. Megan said she is willing to reduce the price to $45,000. Laura was not happy about this and she insisted on paying $50,000 for all 38 items. Laura said there is a binding contract between them, but Megan said she had already sold the PlayStation to someone else. Advise Megan, George, and Laura.
