Melankolia was a senior medical officer at Gunungan Medical Centre. He has been working in that hospital for 15 years. On Friday morning, he received a letter from the Disciplinary Committee, alleging that he had committed sexual harassment against a female staff nurse, Kak Limah, in his office last May. The Disciplinary Committee notified him that a hearing would be conducted in the next ten days. Melankolia requested that he should be given more time to prepare his case. However, his request was turned down by the Disciplinary Committee. 

On the day of the hearing, Melankolia denied the allegation. He explained to the Disciplinary Committee that at the relevant time and day of the alleged offence, he was not alone with Kak Limah in his office. He requested to bring his colleague, Melania to be his witness in the hearing but the request was also turned down. 

Jamil, his former colleague, chaired the hearing. They had not been on good terms with each other before this because Melankolia had refused to give a good review for his promotion application. At the end of the hearing, the Disciplinary Committee found Melankolia guilty, and he was suspended from work for four months. Melankolia was unhappy with the decision made by the Disciplinary Committee.
