Members of the American Marketing Association (AMA) are committed to ethical, professional conduct. To ensure that standards are met and maintained, the organization has constructed a voluntary Code of Ethics:

a) decide whether the conduct described is ethical or not, and explain why you feel the way you do

(b) cite which portion of the AMA Code of Ethics might govern the illustration

(c) describe how you might correct the situation (if you would)

Illustration A: Mary Woods receives a phone call during the evening hours from Hoskins Research. The person on the phone asks Mary if she would be willing to answer a few questions about health care and her personal preferences in health care for a national survey. Mary agrees. After ten short demographic questions that really dont address many health care issues, the interviewer begins to try and sell Mary a healthy insurance policy from a nationally recognized health insurance firm.
