Membrane filtration commonly used in wastewater treatment is microfiltration, utrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse Osmosis with hydrostatic pressure difference as membrane driving force. Problem in fouling and expensive operating cost are the main obstacles when dealing with membrane filtration system. Due to this, sometimes low cost adsorbent can be used to replace membrane. (a) Propose an integrated membrane system for the decolourization of palm oil mill effluent (POME). Maximum 500 words and the process flow diagram is required to be sketched. (15 marks)
