Membrane filtration commonly used in wastewater treatment is microfiltration, utrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse Osmosis with hydrostatic pressure difference as membrane driving force. Problem in fouling and expensive operating cost are the main obstacles when dealing with membrane filtration system. Due to this, sometimes low cost adsorbent can be used to replace membrane.
