Memorandum scenario:
Malcolm Hutchins attended CDI College and completed the Paralegal Program. After he graduated, he applied for a P1 license. While completing the Good Character section of the application that asks if you have ever been found guilty of, or convicted of, any offence under any statute, Malcolm responded in the affirmative. Malcolm revealed that, at one time, he was a Toronto Police Officer and that he was found guilty of misconduct under the Police Services Act. He stated that he was suspended for seven calendar days without pay for the aforementioned misconduct. When the Law Society investigated the misconduct, they alleged that they found one additional conviction where Malcolm had been found guilty by the Toronto Police Service and was dismissed. Malcolm denies that he has knowledge of the additional conviction or that he was dismissed by the Toronto Police. He would like your firm to represent her in a Good Character hearing at the Law Society Tribunal.
