The reactor effluent is taken out at a rate of 350 mol/10.6% H,64% CO and 25.4% CHOH (percentages by weight). The stream is then passed through a condenser and the majority of the methanol is drawn out in liquid form. The gas stream leaving the condenser, containing CO, H, and 0.4 mol% uncondensed vapor, is recycled and combined with the fresh feed.
