#MeToo spread virally in October 2017 as a hashtag used on social media to help demonstrate the widespread prevalence of sexual assault and harassment, especially in the workplace. Use the concepts of dissonance and self- perception to discuss how it might be possible for people to perceive sexual assault while the accused does not perceive his or her behavior as assaulting. Include in your discussion why someone who says that they have been assaulted might not report the assault and might also return to work with the person who is accused of the assault.
