This assignment will be completed individually or in groups of 2 - 4. The purpose of this assignment is to give you an opportunity to apply principles of LO7 - Supply chain management. This assignment has two parts. In the first part you will be required to review a journal article. The goal of this part is to find existing supply chain frameworks that can be applied to Saskatchewan industry. For part two, you will you need to explain what steps may be taken to apply the knowledge to farming in Saskatchewan. Formatting guidelines: (Click on links to access resource on the Sask Polytech Library website) APA Style (7th ed.) cover page - Use this link as a guide. Length: 2 to 4 pages excluding any references and appendices pages, spacing 1.5 points. You do not need to cite or reference course materials which were provided to you by the instructor. However, if you choose to utilize any source other than course materials, which were provided to you by the instructor, you must properly cite sources in-text as well as on a reference page. After reading the article: Briefly summarize the study piece. As you read the article, you can see that food loss and food waste (FLW) in agri-food supply chains is still a problem. This paper fills in this gap by studying growers, distributors, and retailers in the agri-food supply chain to make a Circular Capability Framework. The framework or guideline indicates what can be done from the perspectives of producers, distributors, and retailers to decrease losses. In your project report, you need to write summary. These needs to be included in the section on the Literature Review. This is your first assignment for writing the project report. When writing the summary, put all of your attention on the main problem of the research paper and what it found. Don't pay attention to other things.
Part II - Application of the Circular Economy Framework to farming in Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan is often called the "breadbasket" of Canada because it is where most of the country's grains are grown. Saskatchewan is well known as an agricultural powerhouse. The article in PART1 has given you some background information; now you need to explain what steps may be taken to apply that information to the situation in Saskatchewan. Question: What are the Lessons acquired from reading this article and how might they might be used in the situation of farming in Saskatchewan? In order to get the answer to this question you may contact farming businesses in Saskatchewan and do online research to learn more about farming in Saskatchewan and the province as a whole.
