M2 Discussion - Diversification - Discussion Group 2 2 2 From MGMT567_FA23 The answer to a strategy question is always case by case and depends on carefully analyzing the situation at hand. To focus or diversify is a critical strategic decision to the success or failure of companies and individuals. Some companies succeed by following a focus strategy, and some by diversification. The decision ultimately depends on the specific circumstances, including industry stability and dynamics, future uncertainty, company resources, the synergy between different activities, etc. Most importantly, in today's fast- changing and turbulent environment, companies need to have a dynamic strategy and be good at adapting it at different stages in their growth and/or when the technological and business environments change. After watching M2 videos and reading Cho, analyze a "focus or diversify" decision, preferably through YOUR OWN experience, either in work or personal context. Apply the strategic tool/framework from the chapter, e.g., the 8S framework, analyze the rationale for the decision and the critical factors at play here, and evaluate whether that was a good decision in hindsight and why. You can all use this to analyze your personal or career decisions, e.g., whether to focus on one skill set or diversify into others. You need to post your own first before seeing others' posts. It's essential to display critical thinking and value in both your posts and comments, and please refer to the rubric for details on the evaluation of both. The length guideline for your post is roughly one-page, single-spaced, quality of thinking is valued more than quantity, and you are encouraged to use bullet points and short sentences. In all discussions, please start your discussion and each paragraph with a summary to make it easier to understand
