MGMT-6089 Leadership and Management Assessment (20% of Course Grade) This set of instructions will help you develop your Leadership and Management Assessment (you will construct your Leadership and Management Reflection later). It will be a maximum of 5 pages in length excluding Cover Page, Table of Contents and References. Your leadership assessment must include content from the Leader Character Model (Ivey) from the 'You Got This' (Wiley) textbook. These references and other external sources, must have intext citations and be formatted in APA 7th edition format. Students are not allowed to use ChatGPT or any other cognitive offloading tool in the creation of this assignment. Components: This assignment provides a wonderful opportunity for you to stop and reflect on your past journey, your values, beliefs, and ideals, your leadership and character strengths, your education, training and gifts, your experiences and opportunities, and any outside assessments provided by others or by survey instruments. All of these varied components will contribute to your general understanding of your Personal Leadership Style. But what is involved in each of these components? Let's take a closer look. A - Your Leader Character (10 marks) The first step is to reflect on your leadership charter using the Leader Character Model, developed by Ivey Business School and SIGMA. The model identifies 11 dimensions of leader's character. Each dimension is comprised of specific elements (please see "Leaders Character Dimensions and Elements Overview" in the Assignment folder for details and definitions). Part A will need to include the following components: 1. Identify the 3 of the 11 dimensions of leadership character that are strongest in your personal leadership style. (3 marks) 2. Discuss each dimension using specific examples of your behaviour. (3 marks) 3. Explain how these dimensions can contribute to your career success. (4 marks) B - Your Leadership History: (two perspectives) (10 marks) 2 | P a g e In this part of your assessment, you will examine two main areas: leaders who may have influenced you and how you have led/influenced others. First, look back on your life and examine those who have had an effect on your life. What characteristics did they exhibit that influenced you? What was their effect like? Were they very directive or participative? Did they support you or leave you on your own? What was it about them that you most remember? (5 marks) Second, look at your own life and examine how you have influenced and led others. You might be thinking, "I have never led anyone or anything in my life". If you look carefully you will see that you have indeed influenced others over the course of your life. It could be a family member (child or sibling), friend, classmate, co-worker, community group, volunteer group, or larger organization. (5 marks) C - Your Leadership Philosophy: (10 marks) In essence, what you will emphasize in this section are those principles, beliefs, values, ideals, norms, and standards that you consider important and essential to you as a leader. These items determine who you are as a leader and as a person and who you see when you look in the mirror. They summarize the character you have as a leader. The use of APA 7th edition will be marked out of 10 marks. The use of the Leader Character Model (Ivey) and the 'You Got This' (Wiley) resources are also out of 10 marks. The assignment will be worth a total of 50 marks. Conclusion: Your Leadership and Management Assessment is very helpful in determining where you are in your growth as a leader. You may have had little training and development. Or you may have had extensive training. The key is knowing where you are in your personal growth as a leader. This assessment will help you determine what your next steps may be as you work on your career. Begin thinking about your life as a leader.
