Title: Comparison of test results from two different classes on the annual ASAT exam.
Brief introduction: In this scenario, we are comparing the test scores of two different 12th grade classes, the ASAT exam, Class A and Class B. The research question is: "Is there a relevant difference in test scores of the ASAT exams between Class A and Class B?"
Null Hypothesis: There is no significant difference in the mean ASAT test scores between Class A and Class B. Alternative Hypothesis: There is a significant difference in the mean ASAT test scores between Class A and Class B.
Methods:
Sample size: 30 students were randomly selected from each class.
Sampling method: Simple random sampling was used.
Measurement Methods: Both classes took the same math test.
Descriptive statistics and graphs: Descriptive statistics include mean, standard deviation, and histograms to check for normality. Boxplots can be used to check for outliers.
Alpha level: A standard alpha level of 0.05 (p < 0.05) will be used to determine statistical significance.
T Test Type: An independent sample t test will be used because we are comparing two different and unrelated groups (Class A and Class B).
Assumptions for T tests: Independence of observations. Approximately normally distributed data. Homogeneity of variations between groups.
