Modernize Datacenter Project The purpose of this assignment is for you to develop a strategy to modernize a datacenter for an organization known as Skynet. Skynet currently has 100 physical servers with older server hardware running various Windows and Linux operating systems. These servers host in-house developed applications that focus on artificial intelligence and robotics. Skynet projects future growth that will require around 1000 servers total within the next three years. As the systems administrator /engineer you are tasked with developing a plan to implement VMware server virtualization and convert the existing servers to VMs running on brand new dependable server hardware. These servers should be clustered so the resources such as CPU, memory, and storage can be pooled. Most of Skynet's servers require low resources 2 CPUs, 8 GB memory, 40 GB disk; however, they have two large database servers that require 32 CPUs, 256 GB memory and 2TB disk. To receive full credit you strategy / plan must address the following: - Upper management has asked you to use the industry leader in server virtualization; VMware. However, they do not understand why you can't use the much cheaper VMware Workstation hypervisor. You must explain the benefits of using the VMware vSphere / ESXi hypervisor. Be sure to describe general virtualization benefits, such as hardware independence, encapsulation, pooling resources, etc..., as well as the advanced features, such as VMotion, etc.... Your plan must be written for non-technical individuals to understand. - Software tools used to convert the physical servers to VMs - Hardware servers selected and why (manufacture, specs, quantity, etc...) - Total estimated cost for modernize / virtualization project; ensure to include software and hardware costs You are not responsible for the VM storage, as the storage administrator will provide you NFS storage for your VMs. However, you must let the storage administrator know how much storage is required. Also, you are responsible for the storage required to install the hyper-visor
