The financial industry is one of the most regulated industries in the nation. This is due to a series of bank failures and scandals that have transpired over the past few centuries. Not every scandal was necessarily illegal but certainly didn't put the perpetrators in a favorable light as far as politicians and the public were concerned.

For this discussion, research a bank scandal that happened in your region. Explain the events and causes of the scandal. Did the scandal cause a bank failure? Did it result in new regulations? If it did, do you think that the regulations put in place were correct? Why or why not? Compare banking regulation to the amount of regulation that exists in your industry. Is this truly equitable? Do you think this should change? Why or why not? Be sure to include a link to the scandal.
