1. Stefanie is 15 years old. Stefanie and her 18-year-old brother, Stefon, go to the Walmart together. Stefon convinces Stefanie to shoplift a part he needs to repair his motorcycle; she puts it in her backpack. They are both caught.

  • Can Stefanie be tried in juvenile court? Why or why not?

2.Alec and his friend Julien are both 17 years old. They are caught driving a car they took without permission. Alec turns 18 one week after his arraignment. Julien is found guilty at his fact-finding hearing (trial), and based on his prior adjudications, the court orders that he spend 20 weeks in confinement. After Julien has spent 8 weeks in confinement, he turns 18.
