Module #3: Reflection Assignment

Purpose: To reflect on your own skills in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to communicate their experience of emotional issues and challenging life events using alternative and augmentative communication approaches.

• Describe a scenario or situation where you or someone you have supported has relied on some form of alternative or augmentative communication method (AAC). This could be from your professional or personal experience. (e.g., communicating with someone who speaks a language you do not, supporting an individual using a formal or informal AAC method, the activity at the beginning of class).
• Describe your experience as that of a "listener" or "speaker".
• How will this experience and this week's course content prepare you for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities who use AAC methods to communicate?
