Moon Entertainment Pte Ltd (*ME") started to organise online concerts during the pandemic. ME engaged local singer Jasmine Soh (*JS"), an electronic music artiste, as one of the 10 performers in an online concert entitled "H20 Online Concert". The contract sets out the following terms: 1) JS is to attend 2 meetings via zoom organised by the concert producer, Ms. Billie Eng. 2) JS is to attend 1 rehearsal via zoom after the second meeting. 3) The online concert will be livestreamed 1 week after the rehearsal. 4) ME will transfer the sum of $10,000 within 14 days after the online concert. JS sat at her desk waiting for the meeting to start. As JS was drinking coffee from her cup, she accidentally spilled coffee over her lap-top and damaged her lap-top. She grabbed her mobile from her dressing table to access the zoom meeting. Unfortunately, she fell as she was walking back to her desk and dropped her mobile. JS could access the zoom meeting using mobile but there was no sound. She used the chat function to communicate but most of the time Ms. Billie Eng continued to talk and refused to use the chat function. After about 10 minutes into the meeting, the camera malfunctioned but JS could use the chat function to type the following message: "I am truly sorry. My mobile's camera malfunctioned and I am not able to see or hear anyone. I will attend the next meeting instead. Please email me the link to the video recording of the meeting. Apologies". After the meeting ended, Ms. Billie Eng told the management of ME that the first meeting was to quickly sort out the musical arrangements and understanding with the performers who attended the meeting. She did not include JS in the musical arrangement due to tight timeline with the second meeting on the following day. The meeting was not recorded. ME decided to terminate the contract with JS and proceed with the 9 performers who attended the meeting.
