Morphine is a drug used vastly for post surgery pain management. However, prolonged morphine usage can cause narcotic addiction. Therefore, a pharmaceutical company is developing an alternative without using opium as an active ingredient and is running a clinical trial to see if it is just as/more effective than morphine in managing post-op pain for patients. For this study, 200 volunteers were recruited of which 100 are randomly selected and given the new drug while the remaining 100 volunteers get morphine post their respective surgeries. The doctor then asks all the patients to rate their level of pain on a scale of 1 to 10. Assume all patients underwent the same surgery. This study would be double-blind if O Neither drug had any identifying marks on it. O Neither the volunteers nor the post-op doctors were allowed to see each other during the session where the patient rated their level of pain.
