Most people believe that lawyers are paid to use big words--perhaps even paid by the word. In reality, most practitioners learn in law school to write very clearly, perhaps even at a high school level or slightly below. This may mean that lawyers use lots of small words instead of many big words to clearly explain their points. 1. Why might lawyers do this? 2. Do you think this is a good idea? Why or why not? 3.
