Mozart Piano Studio (MPS) is a non-profit organization that promotes the performing art of classical piano music. Several advocates came up with the idea offering free and high quality piano lessons using Skype. They decided to work with elementary schools and neighborhood centers, where might be available to offer spaces and pianos for their students. They also recruited pianists providing lessons voluntarily. You are part of the team to create an information system, which will facilitate the delivery of piano lessons via Skype. After conducting interviews with a group of MPS officers, you learned the following system requirements, documented below.
An operation officer is in charge of the recruiting of piano teachers.
A phone interview is required for pianists showing an intention to volunteer. The officer will call to confirm the volunteers name and to enter it into the system. The volunteer must have a Skype account and provide it during the interview. Other information is collected, such as the volunteers music degree and awards won by the teacher. Finally, the pianist is registered as a teacher.
Teachers can use the system to offer a one-hour lesson based on their conveniences. The system will be used to store the lesson date/time and make it available for students to make reservations. Each lesson is one-to-one and conducted via Skype.
Each student must register to the MPS system in order to take a lesson. The students need to pick five from a pool of pre-selected classical piano pieces upon registration. Each choice must be from one of five categories (such as Baroque, Romantic, or Contemporary). There must be one piece selected in each category. In the meantime, the student must select the first piece for the first lesson.
The student can reserve at most one lesson per week. The student must attend the lesson for the entire hour in order to complete the lesson. A teacher needs to write a log (including comments and attendance) of each lesson. If a teacher records a lesson as incomplete, the corresponding student wont be allowed to reserve a lesson for two weeks.
Students can opt in to receive email/text notifications if an new lessen is offered, teachers log updates, etc.
