Mr. and Mrs. Phillips, an inter-racial couple traveled from New York to Florida for a Professional Development Convention for five days and four nights. This was not a business related trip, Mr. Phillips with his Ivy League education was a CEO for a financial company and had attained notable success. Mr. Phillips accompanied his wife in order to be supportive, after she was rejected for another job promotion. Mrs. Phillips, is currently a Brand Management Manager, who had her own success story as a minority leader but had recently experienced setbacks in her professional career.

While minding their own business in the privacy of their room, preparing to go for the keynote address, an intoxicated intruder, staggered into their room, causing Mrs. Phillips to scream and her husband to jump towards the intruder. An altercation and chaos ensued when Mr. Phillips confronted the intruder; the guests from adjacent rooms called security as they were disturbed by the loud noise.

Upon entering the room, the Security Personnel grabbed Mr. Phillips away from the intruder and ordered him to leave the room. Mrs. Phillips ran to her husband's side and informed them that they were grabbing her husband while the actual intruder zigzagged in the room. Mrs. Phillips was agitated further that Security Personnel had mistaken her husband's identity and presumed he was the intruder. She stepped away to take a seat on the bed, when the chandelier suddenly dropped from the ceiling and exploded by the side of the bed causing injuries to her right arm and hips.

In the midst of calling 911, Mr. Phillips was interrupted by the Security Personnel who wanted to let Mr. Phillips know the hotel can fix Mrs. Phillips up and that there was no need for the emergency call. While trying not to pay attention to the Security Personnel, Mr. Phillips walked away with his phone into the kitchenette area where he slipped hurting his back. Mr. Phillips, while lying on the floor, could now smell the alcohol stench on the floor. They had been in the room for nearly an hour and they only had juice in their possession. Mrs. Phillips collapsed after losing more blood mainly from one deep cut she received from the explosion. The ambulance and the emergency personnel, who were finally summoned, made it within an hour after Security Personnel entered the room.

The couple stayed a week longer than the anticipated five days due to their injuries. On their last night they dined at 20 Centuries Restaurant, located downstairs, although Mr. Phillips was now slow on his feet and could not easily access it, they thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Mrs. Phillips' checkout experience was seamless; the hotel had granted them a free week stay after their unfortunate series of incidents.
