Mrs. Johnson, the second-grade teacher at a public elementary school, took her class out for recess. The children were playing kickball while Mrs. Johnson stood on the side of the playground and watched. On one side of the large playground, a vehicle was parked because it had overheated. The children walked over to see the car. A man got out of the vehicle and told the children to stand back. Mrs. Johnson stood at the same spot, watching but did not walk over to see what was happening. The man went to unscrew the radiator cap, which then spewed out steaming hot water. The hot water hit the face of a child and scalded her.

Was Mrs. Johnson negligent? Did she owe the child a duty? Was she negligent in supervising the children?
