He obtained a loan of RM2,000 from Chettiar by executing a promissory note. He spent RM1,000 to buy his law books, watch and sports equipment. The balance RM1,000 was spent on sightseeing tour in Singapore.
Muhammad promised Rehana whom he had met at the University to marry her. Whilst attending a seminar at University Malaya, he met Rashidah and fell in love with her. He promised to marry her too.
Muhammad did not repay the loan and Chettiar threated to take legal action. In the mean time, Rehana and Rashidah dragged him to the Syariah court claiming breach of promise to marry. Muhammad came running to see you for legal advice. What would you advise him?
