Muhammad Hammoudi, a tall, handsome well built 17-year-old Palestinian came to study law at the International Islamic University Malaysia. He obtained a loan of RM2,000 from Chettiar by executing promissory note. He spent RM1,000 to buy his law books, watch and sports equipment. The balance RM1,000 was spent on a sightseeing tour to Singapore. Muhammad Hammoudi promised Rehana whom he had met the University to marry her. Whilst attending a seminar at University Malaya, he met Rasheedah and fell in love with her. He promised to marry her too. Muhammad Hammoudi did not repay the loan and Chettiar threatened to take legal action. In the meantime, Rehana and Rasheedah dragged him to the Syariah Court claiming breach of promise to marry. Muhammad Hammoudi came running to see you for legal advice. What would you advise him?
