Does active management really generate abnormal returns?

If active management does generate abnormal returns, do the managers pass these returns on to fund shareholders or keep the profits as fees?

Even if most active managers don't generate abnormal returns, can we identify a select few who do?

Do funds that charge higher fees also generated higher abnormal returns?
