My big take away from the first article titled "Beyond borders in applied psychology," was that while we acknowledge that psychology is a broad and expansive concept, that provides many different services and helps many different people with many different problems, that we have more in common that we think. The article says "We must recognize differences, of course, but also place a far greater focus on commonality in order to remove borders, and move towards a shared interest (and competence) in applying psychology to make a constructive difference to human beings" (Hammond, 2021). I find this relevant to my current line of work and specialty field for my project, because although I am the individual who works with the children most directly, there is a whole team behind me that supports the student in various different ways. BCBAs, BTs, RBTs, Case managers, Guidance counselors, teachers etc. There are many responsibilities that are specific to different roles, but all of us share the common goal of seeing our students succeed.
What are your thoughts and suggestions.
