My business has had a pretty decent year! My sales were $500,000 and my accounts receivables are 40,000 dollars. I have a debit balance already in my Allowance for Doubtful Accounts of $450. I have discovered that 5 percent of my receivables are uncollectable. I was hoping that someone could help me determine the estimated amount in my Allowance for doubtful accounts balance, explain what to do with my $450 dollar debit balance, and explain how to post the adjustment to my ledger.
