My friends who are experts in healthcare tell me that the idea of single capitation is coming. That means that a large hospital chain would receive a certain amount per month (say $1 billion) to distribute among its hospitals, physical therapy centers, cancer treatment centers, etc. This is going to be a huge accounting problem. What method would you use to allocate the $1 billion to the many expenses incurred in a huge hospital system?
