My initial recommendation for this company would've been to use SHOP and find a healthcare plan that fit the employees' needs while also being affordable. Unfortunately, SHOP is not currently offering marketplace plans in my area (Northwest Louisiana). As a second option, I feel a PPO could be appropriate because it can be beneficial for those with chronic conditions. Although premiums can be higher with PPOs, they have lower deductibles and insured individuals pay less when using providers that are "in network" (Sandroff, 2023). While some of the young population may not like this coverage, opting for a plan such as an HDHP could be financially difficult for many due to the high deductibles.
