My motivation for participating in and applying training to my future is in direct relation to the concept of intrinsic and extrinsic reward factors. Intrinsic rewards are motivators that are internal, and therefore cannot be seen. My intrinsic motivator is my desire to add value to my organization. Additionally, because my organization did not have anyone internally with the ability to train me, I had to seek training outside of the organization. The satisfaction of being able to develop my technical proficiency at my role despite this obstacle is also a huge intrinsic motivator for me. Extrinsic rewards are tangible benefits to the individual like a bonus, an award, or a selective opportunity. My extrinsic motivator to develop myself is to be considered for promotion. My organization is extremely competitive for promotions, and individuals are given the opportunity to compete for promotion yearly. Being technical proficient and competent in my role through extensive training would give me the leverage to be competitive for future promotion opportunities.
