My name is Matt Lawson and I'm originally from Virginia Beach Virginia. Currently I am a 2A373 (crew chief) assigned to Seymour Johnson AFB N.C. The job title is Tactical Aircraft Mechanic but are often referred to as crew chiefs, where basically we are responsible for the overall well-being of a said Aircraft. Basically, we oversee nose to tail maintenance and physically install most parts ourselves. I just arrived in North Carolina, but before this I was stationed at nine other places including, Florida, New Mexico, Arizona, South Korea, Italy, New Mexico (again), South Korea (again), South Carolina, South Korea (yes! A third time). I am planning on retiring right at 20 years. Which luckily for me is in two years. I plan to finish my bachelor's degree while still on active duty, but when I retire, I have a few options that I am currently looking at. I want to start working on a master's degree in either Supply Chain/Logistics, but at the same time I could keep working on Airplanes using my Airframe and Powerplant license and make fantastic money without the stress of being in the military.
