My organization employs Maintenance Workers, Police Officers, Police Services Specialists, and other staff who work to maintain a 24/7 operation. Officers may work a graveyard shift, only to return the next afternoon for a mandatory training or to work overtime for an emergency event. Maintenance Workers will complete their normal schedule only to return that evening for an overnight snow event. It is these moments that understanding sleep cycles and symptoms of disordered sleeping become relevant to my daily work
