• My role is to be room leader for the week, I am responsible for directing and managing what happens in the room in relation to the planned program, daily tasks and routines.
• I must be familiar and have an understanding of the EYLF, NQS and regulations to ensure practices in the room are in order.
• I must be aware of the centre's philosophy and policies and procedures as they should be reflected throughout the program and planning.
• I am responsible for developing the children's program for the week but must cooperate and collaborate with other staff members to meet the needs of the children.
• I must ensure a safe environment is maintained.
• I should be supportive, positive and a role model to others.
• I must be flexible, ready to suggest ideas, pay attention to detail, think holistically and be prepared to make changes to the routine during any circumstance.
• I am responsible for delegating jobs, keeping it clear so staff is aware of who is doing what and ensure it remains fair so no one feels overwhelmed.
