Name: Date turned in: Class: esc .O. F1 PreCalculus Unit 6 Conics Project Project Title: Here is your chance to be creative.... design a drawing on graph paper (cartoon character, sports object or mascot, design or a scene... Be creative!!). Give your project a title. This will count as a project grade and is due on March 30"(A)/31" (B). I will have extra tutorial sessions if you need assistance. A Do not wait until the last minute. The picture should use various conics as lock outlined in the rubrics and have at least 2 lines. Your grade will be based on the scoring below: Project components Max pts. Student pts. Drawing sketch (labeled and initialed) 20 pts. Equations (5 pts each) 50 pts. alt 2 circles 2 horizontal or vertical ellipses control option 1 vertical parabola 1 horizontal parabola 2 hyperbolas 2 lines Equations for other Linear or Conic 20 pts. features included with the picture Final Design Presentation 10 pts. (Colored, Mounted, Folder, Creative, Title) TOTAL SCORE Other guidelines: 1. You must write your equations out on a separate sheet of paper by type (circle, ellipse, hyperbola, parabola, line). I should see the work you did to make the equation (especially with lines and parabolas). It should show the components of the individual conic as we learned in class (vertices, co- vertices, center, vertex, foci, etc.). 2. Make two copies of your graphs. The rough draft (blueprint) must be numbered to correspond to the list of equations. Also, the rough draft must have the x-axis and y-axis drawn. The second copy will be your final draft that will be put on your mount. The second copy will NOT have the axes or be numbered.Class: Name: Date turned in: 193 F2 CO # 3. Restrictions for the domains must be determined for each equation circles and ellipses with restrict themselves). If these points are not integers, specify them to the nearest hundredth. W 4. Make a list of any websites you used or were helpful to you while preparing this project. A S N alt contro option Deadlines: comn 1. The rough draft with a minimum of 5 equations is due on Thurs 3/23rd (A) / Fri 3/24th (B) 2. The final picture, all equations in proper form, the rough draft, list of equations (with restricted domains) mounted on poster board are due on: Thurs 3/30th (A) / Fri 3/31 st (B) Warning: * **No part of the project shall be constructed on DESMOS, graphing calculator, or any other software-graphing tool. This is your own work. Come up with your own equations. Start by sketching the conics on graph paper.*** " We learned about honesty and integrity - that the truth matters... that you don't take shortcuts or play by your own set of rules... and success doesn't count unless you earn it fair and square." ~Michelle Obama
