Name: Grade & Section: TOPIC: Electric Field LEARNING COMPETENCY: Describe an electric field as region in which an electric charge experiences a force Draw electric field patterns due to systems with isolated point charges I.OBJECTIVES 1. Draw electric field lines/patterns 2. Calculate electrostatic field problems II.KEY CONCEPTS Electric field exists whenever a charged particle is acted by an electrical force. Let us imagine an electric charge creating an electric field in the region of space surrounding it where it exerts a force on any other charge within that region. An electric field is the ratio of net electric force to the charge (q) placed at that point in the field. In symbols, E = F/q Where E is the electric field expressed in N/C 10 / 18 F is the electric force expressed in Newtons (N); and q is the positive test charge in coulomb (C) The direction of the electric field is the same as the direction of the electric force acting on the positive test charge. The electric field becomes stronger the closer the point is to the object and was represented using an imaginary line called electric field lines. III.
