Materials: Chalk (or tape), Meter stick (or tape measure), Pencil, Data Sheet Instructions: 1. Set up your frame of reference. Select which direction is positive and which is negative. 2. Place a * on the ground to mark the walker's start point. 3. Walk 10 steps forward (+ direction) and stop. 4. Write an X1 on the ground at your feet. Using the meter stick, measure the distance you walked in centimeters from the start. 5. Record the distance and displacement (in cm) on your data table. 6. From X1, turn 180 degrees (toward the negative direction) and walk 4 steps forward (- direction). 7. Place an X2 on the ground at your feet. 8. Measure the distance and displacement (in cm) from X1 to X2. Record the distance and displacement on your data table. 9. From X2, turn 180 degrees and walk 12 steps forward. 10. Place an X3 on the ground at your feet. 11. Measure the distance and displacement (in cm) from X2 to X3. Record the distance and displacement on your data table. 12.
