This week's chapter is was composed of different stories but the main point of this chapter was effective leadership. The stories of this chapter point out how much a leader should a lender cares or is committed to something to accomplish dreams and goals. Caring and being committed to something shows how much a leader is willing to thru in good and bad situations to achicve something that is important to them. Why is Stahr a successful leader? 'He succeeds as a leader because of his strong accountability to himself' Pg 84 This means that Stahr owned the actions that he chooses to do good or bad. He isn't blaming others for when something goes wrong he owns it and sce were he went wrong What are 3 things that leaden should work with? Passion, devotion, and care. These 3 things are very important because if a leader ise't working these 3 thing then aren't a true leader. Without these 3 things leader will be going through the motion not really caring abour the things that they are doing. With these 3 key things it shows what a leader is willing to do to accompliah something. Pg 83 Is it possable for a leader to care too much? I believe that it is limitless when it comes to a leader caring about a goal they want to accomplish or a dream that they have. Caring just show how much a leader is devoted to something. It really just means that they are willing to give there all for something that they want to do. Pg.77 Why do leader find tough challenges valuable? This gives leaders the opportunity to learn more and push to greater heights. Something can be learned from every situation good or bad. For example a tough challenge can show a leader where they are weak and help them improve in future situations. Pg97 Is it important for a leader to care about there job? Yes I believe that it is important because if a leader does not care then they won't be give the job and the people they are surrounded by their all. Caring shows that you are giving all that you have to something. Pg. 77 Do leaders have to sacrifice? Yes we all have to sacrifice things in order to accomplish our dreams and goals. Sacrifice shows how committed a person is to something and what they are willing to give to make it happen Take aways from this chapter is that a leader you should know what is important to you. Once the important thing is found be passionate, devoting, and care about it. The things that are important to you get it your all no matter what. Pg,78 Badaracco, J. (2006). Questions of Character Iluminating the Heart of Leadership Through Laterature Boston, MA-Harvard Business School Publishing ISBN: 978-1591399681 This week's chapter allows readers to see the impact of a leader's dedication, unforeseen dernands, and willinaness, to caro. "The work of leaders demands pationce, courage, and tenacity for months and yoars on end. (Badaracco, pg 75 ) We are introduced to Moriroe Stahr's life, the dirparify amongst zincerely cating as opposed to doing what in expected in ordor to get the task completed. Having a genuine respect and honesitly caring plays an instrumental role in establishing an authentic and sincere rapport amongst colleagues thiat ultimately can lead to long iasting rolationshipo The chapter ends strongly whih how leadors encounter a significant strength of character and ability to taku accountability lor themselves and their countorparts without bias. Did Stahr understand the price of caring? As illustrated in the text Stahy lived a managerial life that consisted of long hours of working. countiess responsibilities, critical discussions, and decision making. These tasks required momentum, nupport, and keen attontion to detal, but Stahr understood the price of caring and remained nteadiast in his role as a leader (Badaraceo, p9.77) Is Stahr really accountable? The actions of leaders like Stahr in the text suggest "they foel deuply accountable fot themselvas" (Badaracco. pg. 81). When leadern genuinely care thelr actions in how they lead will uplift, encourage, and produce sound solutions when in need Stahr's health is declining and conitinues to be engulfod in work to believe it makes his lite greater and complete. This to me lis not taking account for those that derpend on you to lead when if he allowed his body to reset and rost, he could be much more for othern. What might role obligations prowide? "They protect everyone and help keep powerful individuals irom abusing their positions" (Badaracco, pg 86) One's obligations of thair job title should be cupported whith their desireo, passions, and goals. This will ground feraders in ensuring they do not abuset thetr roles and understand all positions play a significant role in the organization. What can Ieaders learn by stepping back? When leaders step back they can allow their team members the opportunity to take on varieus task it bullds trust and reflect on what really is inportant in Stahr's case 'we watch him, in meoting after meoting, getting the small things as close to right as he can" (Badaracco,pg. 91 ). when if he allowed himeelf to take a break. he could have directed others to assist in not sweating the small thing What is Leadership to Stahr? For Stahr. leadership is close uttontion. craftsmanship. and imaginative nuance" (Badaracco. pg. 93) This to Stahe meant he paid close attention to detail and was responsive to every dintinction even if it caused his health to decline. Can caring deeply put a leader in threat of their health? To Stahy it was his overall oxistence no matter what healis conditions oxisted. "lt defines who he is and what he lives for adding sugar, slowly raising the caliber? (Badaracco, pg. 96). The labor he put in was the constitutive commitment to devole and sacrifice as a loader. In reoding this week's chapter I take-away that leaders gain good judgement through understanding the lesisons within hardship and experiences This to me requires compassion, determination, and wilingness to grov to persevere through the triale that may arise O ne s health is their wealih this implies that balance is needed by taking time to rest reflect and regroup. Ive been in management for a fenv years and have firnthand experience: in needing to implement a balance in my personal and proferisional life. My family is everything to me and in order to be the best wife. mother. daughter, sister. and friend that will require me to ensure there is balance
