There were many different countries to consider but I decided to go with the Swiss Franc because I found it interesting and remember by grandparents going to Switzerland and how they spoke about using the Swiss Franc. Additionally, you always hear about people talking about having money set aside for saving and retirement in a Swiss bank account somewhere. The exchange rate between the Swiss Franc and the United States dollar 1.06 USD. Subsequently, 1 USD is equal to .94 Swiss Franc. These numbers have fluctuated within the same year and had figures such as .91, .90, 1.01, and currently back at .94 Swiss Franc. As we consider these fluctuations in currency, it is important to note that appreciation for one becomes depreciation for another as far as the exchange rates are considered. As with all countries, when depreciation sets in importing to the United States of America will cost more and exports will generate less of a profit. These cycles reoccur in all countries where import and export into the US is prevalent. Compared to other countries buying something that is priced at 1.00 in America would cost 1.06 in Switzerland. Here the ideal scenario would be to compare prices at a high production rate and see if it is economically sustainable (2022).
